Got the day off today, so I was just messing around with my camera (and Photoshop, of course) and put this together.

fanmode-copy Michael Crawford reviews the Playmates Toys Star Trek Command Collection Spock and Kirk 12-inch figures. Excerpt: “If I were going to limit myself to only one line of figures to collect from the new film, it would be these.”

Michael Crawford reviews the Playmates Toys Terminator Salvation Deluxe T-600, T-700 and T-R.I.P. Resistance Infiltrator Prototype 6-inch figures. Excerpt: “… the T-700 is worth picking up if you can find something to display him with. Skip the other two unless you’re a completist …”

DCUC Power Girl revealed

dcuc_pgPretty much every other DCUC-related blog and website has already reported this, so I’m way behind the curve, but I know some of you like to discuss this stuff here on PGPoA, so here we go.

AFI has posted exclusive photos of DCUC Power Girl. She appears to be made mostly from the same basic female body used for Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl, but with a newly sculpted chest, for obvious reasons. The head sculpt is beautiful.

The article doesn’t say which line Power Girl will be a part of, but chances are it’ll be Wave 10, which will be Walmart-exclusive. The only other semi-confirmed member of that line is the Joker.

As for my guess for the line-up of this wave? Power Girl, Joker, black-and-gray Batman, Infinity-Man, brown Man-Bat, BAF Doomsday.

Review > T-1 (Terminator Salvation)

I’ll freely admit Playmates’ T-R.I.P. from their Terminator Salvation line is lackluster, particularly when compared to superb specialty market versions such as NECA’s.

And yet…I can’t explain it, but there’s just something appealing about some of these. Not the human/cyborg figures–they’re inexcusably bad. But I’ve become fond of the T-R.I.P., and pretty soon I realized I had to have a T-1 too. I mean, c’mon–it’s a robot with miniguns.

I suspect the T-1s are short-packed, but I found one at Target last night. This may be one of my fastest review turnarounds ever. (more…)

There’s Another Transformers Exclusive…

In addition to the Soundwave Hasbro is offering at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, they announced that there will be another Transformer available in the form of a Mighty Mugg. It’s Optimus Prime sporting a new metallic finish.

comic-con-mm-optimus

Yeah, I’m not really that big into Mighty Muggs, so this doesn’t even blip on my radar as desirable. There’s a few Mighty Muggs that seem kind of cool, but Transformers make the worst transition to the world of these fake indie toys, due to the fact that Transformers are supposed to be blocky and not flattened out on round surfaces. Nevertheless, I’m sure I’m wrong because my wife said that Optimus here was, “adorable”.
