Nothing particularly new here, but Mattel has posted an update on Facebook. Click through for the text.
Toy Fans,
Wanted to give everyone a few updates on upcoming product and order details.
1: We are fixing or have fixed all of the problems that occured last week with Mer-Man. Honestly, all of these issues came from way more fans than expected ordering this product. Not only have we increased bandwidth to accommodate, but this will help us work out production runs going forward to make sure we have enough product for fan demands. We did not intend for this to happen and we are doing everything we can to correct it ASAP.
I personally apologize again for all the fans who could not get their order through. We are going to offer free shipping to all the fans we oversold to, whose orders will be filled by the second shipment coming at the end of April. Once we can confirm the on-sale date for Mer-Man’s second shipment, we will announce it here and on the site.
2: We are also aware that some of the figures are not shipping in as mint condition as we have asked for. To fix this, all figures going forward (starting in July) will have an outer shipper box (much like the DCU and JLU figure sets). We implemented this as soon as we could and it looks like the first figure to get this box will be He-Ro. All figures after him will have an outer shipping box too.
3: A few clarifications on some of the SDCC items from fan posts:
– We did not include a masked JLU Hal Jordan head simply because we do not have the right to do a masked JLU-style Hal Jordan due to the Holiday toy from a few years back. The pack we produced with swappable heads is the closest we can get within our contract to do a JLU Hal Jordan.
-We will announce limits and buying details in the next month or so. The same buying limits which apply at the convention will apply online.
-Gleek is indeed our SDCC exclusive and will not be available after the show. In fact, he may “sell out” before the show is over so be sure to get your Wonder Twins set early. There will not be Gleeks left over after the show. He is designed to be a reward for fans who come out to the show to make it special much like we did with Keldor, Grundy, Catwoman and white/clear ManBat in the past. None of these figures were available online just as Gleek will only be at the show.
But now that we have MattyCollector.com, we will indeed put the other items which are available first at SDCC online soon after the show. We don’t yet have an on-sale date yet, but ideally this will be sometime the week after the show.
We are still a good few months out and will post all of the ordering details well in advance. Hang tight, but we do promise to make sure our fans are up to date well in advance of any sales.
And once again, I appologize for the mishaps with last week’s Mer-Man. We are doing everything we can to work with Digital River to ensure this never happens again!
Best,
Matty

So, who am I going to have to sleep with or bribe to get me Gleek and the WTs at SDCC?
Nicholai
Seconded about Gleek. Anyone?
Jim
Y'know what sucks is that all the international orders that will be filled from the second shipment MIGHT deplete ALL the 2nd shipment stock.
Griffin
I'd rather not hear about Gleek ever again from Mattel unless they are announcing a change in policy. We know where they stand; we are not confused. It doesn't make things better to rehash the same policy line.
I don't even care that much about Gleek, there is just something in Mattel's tone that rubs me the wrong way on this matter, like they are talking down to four-year-olds or something.
Pete
What are they talking about? Man-Bat was available on the Wizards website.

PrftTear…I'll see what I can do.

While, I'm really glad about everything that was stated in this post, I was really hoping for some more news on the upcoming Ghostbusters line.
Nicholai
I would definitely not be against bribery for my Gleek!!

They oversold? How does one get that free shipping? Doesn't make sense to me.
I love that he "PERSONALLY" apologizes. It's like going to Chuck E. Cheese, them burning your pizza and sending a guy out in the mouse suit to apologize on behalf of the chef.
Anyway, at least they are acknowlegding their blunders, so kudos to them for that.

LMAO…my thoughts exactly. Well said!
It does worrry me though because although, I've decided to pick up Merman I'm guessing since they oversold, their stock will be gone in a few minutes to cover orders from their last shipment.

Speaking of Facebook, maybe Mattel could broker some sort of deal to take over their e-commerce division? They could have the Facebook nazi admins crack down on the people hammering the site. "Slow down or you'll get banned." or some nonsense. I got a stupid warning from Facebook over the weekend for adding to many friends at one time. Extremely stupid. Sorry for the rant.

I think it's awfully foolish/brave to bring up the Holiday Hal fiasco as the explanation for no mask on Hal. I've made peace with the fact that this is as good as it gets, but considering how many JLU fans want Mattel's blood over that Holiday Hal debacle and its likely role in the fans being denied one like it I feel like they're asking for trouble.
