I finally went to open my MonsterArts MechaGodzilla this weekend–only to discover he had no eyes.
Now it’s a race between this and the Wind Raider as to which replacement item gets here first. Any bets?
While I grew up on WLVI-56’s Creature Double Feature, I don’t remember seeing any Gamera films until I saw this VHS tape at the local video store (remember video stores? that’s where you saw awesome-but-misleading covers like this). Though my heart would always belong to Godzilla, I enjoyed checking out the Gamera films and all his bizarro opponents. The weirdest by far was Gurion, the giant knife-headed lizard-dog, but the flatiron-pated bird Gyaos was cool too. (more…)

The Problem: Here’s one for the ages. The shields of both Cap and U.S. Agent have been replaced with painted bottle caps. PAINTED BOTTLE CAPS. We’re through the looking-glass here, people. Cap’s parachute is also handmade.
I don’t even know how to assess this one. Why would this sad, sad person want to steal just two shields and a cheap parachute? Did they swap them in the store or buy them and return them?
This one seems less like an act of theft and more like a cry for attention. It’s the first TAT that really makes me wonder if I’m actually encouraging this sort of behavior. Perhaps it’s time to retire the feature…?
Update: Poester Braystreet points out: “The Fortress Assault figure is in the Parachute Package and the Paratrooper figure is actually supposed to be a plain Captain America.”
I bet someone will figure out this one even faster than last time. No prize this time, because I’m thinking this is going to be a regular feature and I don’t have enough Swords of Ages. (I’m trying to come up with some sort of No-Prize-like thing for situations like this–suggestions welcome.)
Anyway, who is this highly-inaccurate dinosaur with the Joker-like grin, and what line does he come from?
I thought it was either Playskool’s Definitely Dinosaurs or Tyco’s Dino Riders, but while this pic comes from a post about Definitely Dinosaurs (and the little dude next to him is from DD), what little research I’ve done seems to indicate he’s not from that line. (more…)

The Problem: The Grune figure has been replaced by…something.
Mr. G writes: “I found this at Kmart in Carson, Ca. I don’t know who that other figure is, but my first thought was Vultureman.”
