The excellent folks at Orccacast had me on again a couple weeks ago, and after some technical difficulties, the podcast has finally made it on the air. Topics include the Mego revival, Mezco’s rough run of luck with their licenses, and general toy geekery. You can check it out at the link below (or get it via Itunes).
Be warned, this one is a long one–I gab with the Orccacast guys for about two hours. And yet, in all that time, I never once remembered to ask them where the heck their show’s name comes from. I’m going to guess/hope it’s not because they’re diehard fans of the 1977 JAWS rip-off. Or maybe it is, and now I owe them an apology.

The Rig, which Matt Doughty was working on when I interviewed him and I’ve been waiting for ever since, is finally on sale at Onell’s store for $25 each. If you loved all those fun vinyl anime toys in the 1980s (like this set, which I once owned), I think you should go buy one.
But don’t take my word for it–not yet, anyway. Here’s Battlegrip’s review of the Rig. Between Gygor and this, September 15 was a big day for toys I’ve been waiting for.

1.) Dayraven asks: It seems a lot of fans are having more frequent issues w/ the QC of the MOTUC figuress they’ve received, with loose ankles and biceps swivels being the most frequent complaint. Is Mattel addressing these issues with the factory?
Yes, we constantly work with our vendors to improve these issues. (more…)

Yeah, that’s right! I’m so excited for Gygor I’m not even giving Carnivus top billing!
But there is also Carnivus, and also Egon with no slime, a PKE meter and a stack of books. Looking forward to paying $30 for a lack of green paint and a tiny accessory.
The big question is, will Gygor be a quick sellout or will he linger? Many people seem to think he’ll be a tough sell, but I predict he’s gone by 1:30pm at the latest.
Anway, the all-in-one page is here.

Earlier this year, Poe tapped me – an action figure neophyte but the closest thing he has to a Lost historian – looking to see if I could add some color commentary to the then recently announced series of action figures based on this instant cult classic TV show (Part I, Part II). Back then, Lost fans were staring down the beginning of the end – with Lost mere weeks away from the start of its final season. So, he found me in a great mood as my mind was tripping over every last possible path the show’s creators could travel down as they finally revealed the secrets behind this fantasy island. Hungry to pick up their breadcrumb trail and chew over anything Lost-related, I was intrigued by the offer to give Poe my first-blush reaction to the concept photos of these new figures – a line that was due to launch as a San Diego Comic Con exclusive in July 2010.
