POP (and MOTU) Goes the Funko

It’s been an open secret for some time, but Funko, makers of fine pop culture merchandise, have the Masters of the Universe license. They’ve already revealed some Wacky Wobblers, which look cool but I didn’t cover because I hate bobbleheads. No offense to Funko, I just think of bobbleheads as broken toys.

But now, finally, we get our first look at the POP-style MOTU figures. He-Man, She-Ra, Skeletor, Hordak and…Spikor? Works for me! I love Spikor. I will own them all.

The pic comes from the Dallas Toy Show and was taken by a friend of Power Pal Joe Amaro, whose incredibly awesome Manta Raider goes on sale October 17.

Reminder: Weaponeers of Monkaa Go On Sale Today at 3pm ET

Don’t forget, the Weaponeers of Monkaa go live at 3pm ET (12pm PT) today! There’s no limit on orders, and while a second run is possible, it’ll only be if there’s enough demand, so if you want to guarantee yourselves a set, order right away!

You can order them at www.spymonkeycreations.com

Here’s a round-up of all the early reviews:

Let me know if I missed any…

Happy Mekaneck Day!

It’s been a long time since I’ve had to go through the painful experience of ordering via Mattycollector, so much so that I totally forgot to do a “Happy Whoever Day!” post.

I will say I’m excited about Mekaneck. He’s the one He-Man figure I distinctly remember opening as a kid, and I’ve always been fond of his design. It looks like they’ve done a good job on his Classics figure.

Today also marks the releases of the Snake Men 2-Pack, Dragon Blaster Skeletor, and from Club Infinite Earths, Black Mask – the first CIE figure I’ll actually keep (and yes, review). There’s also some JLU and WWE stuff I’m not interested in, but if you are you can check out the all-in-one page. No one’s sold out yet!

Bad News and Good News

The bad news is, it looks like I won’t be able to afford to go to New York Comic Con this year. A huge bummer, I know. I’m hoping to work out a press rep for PGPoA, however.

The good news – at least for me – is that there will be a new S.H.MonsterArts figure on display (hopefully), based on this forum post by Bluefin Tamashii Nations rep Derringer:

We’re gonna have new monsters unveiled for NYCC in October. Hopefully the licensing for the 1st Western monsterArts figure will also be done by then so we can show off the prototype  🙂

First Western monster? While King Kong would be awesome, I’ll admit in my heart of hearts I’m hoping it’s the Gillman from Creature from the Black Lagoon. Both names have been floated in the polls Tamashii Nations has run.

I know I’ve talked a lot of talk about S.H.MonsterArts here on the blog but not walked any of the walk. That will change in a big way next month. You want reviews? You will have reviews, my friends. There will be reviews. And, it being Halloween’s month and all, maybe a little blood.

…but mostly reviews.

This Tuesday is “Bring Your Man-E-Faces To Work” Day

Don’t forget – or, find out for the first time – September 4 is “Bring Your Man-E-Faces To Work” Day, a tradition started by several NECA sculptors last year. They note it’s “just a fun way to celebrate our enthusiasm for the MOTU line as well as the one character we can all agree on owning. It’s all about Man-E-Faces.” Take photos of your MEF at work and post them on the Facebook page!
