JoesforTots2009b

Hey y’all, I’ve got to hit you up with some quick news items related to the Joes For Tots contest. Let’s do this!

Item: Toy reviewer extraordinaire Michael Crawford of MCWtoys.com will be doing the honor of randomly picking the winners this year. Thanks, Mr. Crawford.

Item: Articulated Discussion has done an interview with me about the contest. Be sure to watch for it over there when it is up!

Item: If you’re entering the contest (and why wouldn’t you?) keep in mind that for every G.I. Joe toy sold, Hasbro is donating a toy to Toys For Tots. Sweet!

Item: Speaking of other cool charity events this year, the store G.I. Joe Heaven is going to be donating a percentage of their sales to Toys For Tots.

Item: I’d like to thank everyone who has covered the contest including, but we still need to raise awareness for this contest, so below are some new banners that we’ve worked up.

Joes For Tots > How You Can Help

JoesforTots2009b

Well now that the official Joes for Tots contest announcement has been made, I’m hoping you all are keeping it in the back of your minds when you start your holiday shopping this year (be it Christmas or one of those crazy snake worshiping ones). I’ll be hitting you up with reminders as well as sending out notices around the web to let everyone in on this great chance to try to selfishly win things for helping kids, but I can’t do it all on my own. I need some help!

Joes For Tots ’09: The Contest That Helps Kids!

JoesforTots2009b

Joes for Tots is back! It’s the yearly contest that helps kids out by encouraging donations to Toys for Tots. This year we have an even better selection of prizes. Why start so early? Well, we want to remind you as soon as possible that when you see a drop box this year, you might want to think about helping out some young ones.

Let’s not draw this out though, let’s see what you can win (not all items shown in picture).

MasterPOEce Winners

The totals on the board are correct: Jeff M. Donato is the grand prize winner of the MasterPOEce Contest! Jeff will receive a carded 200X He-Man (cross variant) signed by the Four Horsemen, as well as a custom figure of his Poe Ghostal design by Passion Designs, Inc. (more…)

“Make Your MasterPOEce” Stage 2: The Poll

The entries are in, and it’s time to take the “Make Your MasterPOEce” contest to the next stage. Originally, the plan was to choose the top 3 entries and then have you, the people, vote on it, but after seeing all the great entries, we decided to change it up a bit. Instead of just three, I’m going to post every

entry below.

Check them out, then vote in the sidebar for your favorites. You can choose up to 3 favorites. Please review all the entries before you vote. Let’s give everyone their due!

The poll starts today and ends on midnight Eastern time on Teela Day, October 15 (meaning 11:59 PM on the 15th, just before it becomes the 16th).

The prizes, as you’ll recall, are as follows: For the Grand Prize Winner, a custom MOTUC Poe Ghostal based on their design created by Passion Designs, Inc., as well as a carded 2002 He-Man signed by the Four Horsemen. The runner-up wins a MOTUC Mer-Man. In the event of a tie, the winner(s) will be decided via a run-off poll.

Let’s meet the contestants! I’m going to post them in the order they were received. (more…)

Last chance to enter the “Make Your MasterPOEce” Contest!

There are just two more days left on the Make Your MasterPOEce Contest! The image above is a taste of what we’ve received so far, to get your imagination firing. We’ve only got a few entries so far, so get your submission in now! The contest ends this Wednesday at 12 noon U.S. Eastern time.

Again, your entry doesn’t have to be a drawing–it can be a computer-generated 3D model, a painting, a Photoshopped image of an existing MOTUC figure-any format is acceptable, so long as it’s an original piece and in the spirit of the Masters of the Universe Classics style.

Reminder: MOTUC Poe Art Contest

Don’t forget about the “Make A MasterPOEce” contest, which ends on September 30. I swear to you this isn’t just an egotistical indulgence* (it wasn’t even my idea…), but it’s more an excuse to give away free toys, including a custom of your own design, a 2002 He-Man (on card) signed by the Four Horsemen, and a MOTUC Mer-Man to the first runner-up.

Remember, your submission doesn’t have to be perfect. A quick sketch or a Photoshop job on an existing MOTUC figure are as valid as an oil painting.

*I mean, yes, it’s partially an egotistical indulgence, but you still get prizes.

Announcing the “Make your MasterPOEce” Contest!

For untold eons, few (if any) have wondered what the mysterious scribe known as Poe Ghostal looks like. But now, thanks to PoeGhostal.com in conjunction with PassionDesignsInc.com, with the help of He-Man.org, not only will Poe’s form be revealed, but you can win a MOTU-themed prize–including a Masters of the Universe Classics Mer-Man, a 2002 He-Man figure signed by the Four Horsemen, and a custom figure based on your own design, created by Passion Designs customizer Thomas Pitts himself, whose works includes Zombie He-Man as featured in ToyFare magazine.

Here’s what you need to do to enter: just make a piece of art showing what you think Poe Ghostal would look like as a MOTU character. You can use Poe’s logo on his website or the winning bio from the recent “You Need a He-Ro” contest as inspiration, but you don’t have to–your only limit is your imagination!

It can be a sketch, a drawing, a computer-generated 3D model, a painting, a Photoshopped image–any format is acceptable, so long as it’s an original piece and in the spirit of the Masters of the Universe Classics style.

You can submit your entry by emailing it to artcontest@poeghostal.com or by posting it on the He-Man.org forums in this thread: http://www.he-man.org/forums/boards/showthread.php?t=176139

  • A Masters of the Universe Classics Mer-Man figure

The rules:

  • Entry period ends at noon Eastern time on Wednesday, September 30, 2009.
  • The top three entries will be chosen by Poe Ghostal and Passion Designs, Inc. and then put to a reader vote on PoeGhostal.com for one week. The winner and runner-up will have the first- and second-most votes, respectively. In the event of a tie, the winner(s) will be chosen randomly.
  • You may enter once per email address.
  • Only residents of the United States and Canada are eligible.
  • You must be over 18 to enter. (If you are younger, please ask a parent to enter for you.)
