Since I easily have more DCUC figure reviews than any other type, I’ve created a more easily-navigable reviews page just for DCUC, sortable by name, team, or wave.
You read, therefore you’re–what, exactly?
I’ve been thinking for some time now that “PGPoA readers” is an incredibly dull way to describe such a wonderful, if eccentric, lot as you all. So let’s come up with something better!
List your suggestions in the comments below, and I’ll have you vote on the best of them in the next poll. If any of you come up with the winning suggestion, I’ll send you something nice. I don’t know what yet, but it’ll be cool, I swear.
The ideal term will be clever, but not so strange as to make it unclear what it’s referring to.
Here are a few of my own ideas:
- PGPals
- PGPeers
- PGPeeps
- Little Poe Peeps
- Pointers
- Articulates
- PGPoA-holes (just kidding)
Operation Octopus (UPDATED)
Fwoosh user dickgrayson32, who’s from Chile, posted this photo a few weeks back.

I want, nay, need that octopus. Unfortunately, dickgrayson32 only knows it came in some sort of pirate set. I’m afraid it’s some obscure Chilean toy I’ll never be able to find.
But in the hope that it isn’t, does anyone recognize it?
UPDATE! Found him! (more…)
Poll Quest
As of this writing, I’ve got 272 votes on the poll in the sidebar…I’d love to get that up to 300 before the poll ends tomorrow night. If you haven’t voted, please do! If you have, please bug your DC-loving friends to do so!
The results of the poll will be emailed to Mattel (this isn’t any sort of official poll, obviously, but it could give them some ideas).
Sick Day

Just a few quick things…
- I’m recovering from a 24-hour bug that kept me up all last night, so there probably won’t be many updates today.
- Doing five “It Figures” per week has turned out to be a little too ambitious, so from now on there will be a new one every Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon.
- I watched G.I. Joe: Resolute over the weekend and will get a brief review up later this week.
- Also coming this week: a review of Action Figure Displays‘ new, 30% taller displays and possibly Bandai Movie Monster Series Hedorah (a.k.a. the Smog Monster)
The DCUC Batman I want
Pardon my mediocre Photoshop skills…couldn’t quite clear out all that mud.

Contest Winners
The contest winners have confirmed their addresses, so they can now be announced.
The winning combination was Blue Beetle 73. “Clark” guessed Blue Beetle 75, while “T” guessed Blue Beetle 70. Thus, Clark was a single digit closer and won the Grand Prize, while “T” won the Runner-Up prize. Thanks everyone for playing, and fear not–there will be more contests to come.
Last Day for the contest
Don’t forget, today is the last day to enter the 150th Review Contest Spectacular!
Poe’s 150th Review Contest Spectacular

As I’ve mentioned, my next toy review will be my 150th review–not exactly a record when compared to the likes of Michael Crawford or yo go re, but a milestone for me, anyway.
As such, I’m holding a contest to celebrate my next review. Here are the prizes:
- One Grand Prize Winner will get a set of MOC DCUC Booster Gold (both variants), The Flash, Captain Cold, Killer Moth, and an official Mattel DCUC poster from last year’s Comic Con.
- One First Runner-up receives a loose Hawkman and a loose Big Barda (w/ accessories but no BAF parts)
The contest is easy. You guys know what sort of figures I tend to review (here’s the link to a list of all the reviews I’ve written–be sure to check it before you make your guess). All you need to do is write a comment below with two things:
- A guess as to what figure I’ll review next, and
- A random number between 1-200.
People can guess the same figure as someone else, but try not to repeat the same numbers. I’ve already selected the figure I’ll be reviewing next and informed both Dr. Mrs. Ghostal and the Power Pals (Paul, Pete, and PrfktTear), none of whom are eligible for the contest.
The winner will be the person who guesses the correct figure and has the number closest to the winning number, which was randomly chosen by Dr. Mrs. Ghostal prior to this post being published. The runners-up will be broken down first by whether or not they guessed the correct figure, then by how close their number is (so for instance, if no one except the Grand Prize Winner guesses the correct figure but someone gets the number exactly right, that person will get the First Runner-Up prize, the next closest number gets the Second Runner-Up prize, and so forth). If there’s a tie–as in, two people pick the same figure but their number is equidistant from the winning number, I’ll flip a coin to determine who gets the Grand Prize and who’s First Runner-up.
The contest ends at 11:59pm EDT on Thursday April 2, 2009. Good luck!
He-Man meets the Evil Dead
What if Skeletor killed He-Man, then re-animated his corpse with a demonic spirit?
The answer can be found in the customs work of Passion Designs, who created this amazing zombie He-Man, a.k.a. “The Wanderer.”
He also created some very cool Shadow Beasts that Mattel would be wise to consider producing. I know I’d buy at least two.
