Toy Aisle Trolls > Let’s Do the Skywarp Again

Toy Aisle Trolls is a feature highlighting acts of vandalism to in-store toy items. If you find a ruined package, a stolen figure, a swapped-out figure, or any other such acts, take a photo (cell phone photos are fine if they’re not blurry) and email them to poe AT poeghostal.com. Also, please note: I’m deliberately being over-the-top with my condemnation of these people–I don’t actually wish bodily harm upon them. Just severe mental anguish.

POFToo! Resurrected

yo go re of OAFE has dragged the shambling corpse of POFToo!–which I think predated Twisted ToyFare Theater and Robot Chicken–back from the grave. Check it out.

I remember laughing my ass off at POFToo back in the day, though I think you really had to have been collecting SW at the time to get all the jokes. Still, it’s amazing how silly Hasbro’s first attempt at resurrecting the brand was, with all those hulking Lukes and Landos.

Paul’s Peg > The Target TIE Fighter Non-Review

When I was a kid I had a lot of toys, but one toy I never had was a TIE Fighter. It was a little awkward having an X-Wing, Millennium Falcon, and a Y-Wing all gunning down nothing (or a G.I. Joe or Captain Power ship), so when Kenner began re-releasing Star Wars figures I was happier than a pig in slop when I got my hands on the TIE. Of course, being older I didn’t really appreciate the tiny arse wings that it came with, so I had to wait several more years before they made large wings. I missed out on the debut of the improved wings in the form of a Toys R Us exclusive (too expensive), so when the Target version came out with an improved cockpit I knew I had to have it. At about 45 bucks it was out of my range, so thank the Maker for clearance.

Paul’s Peg > More Big AT-AT Rumors!

Remember when I whipped you all up into a frenzy about the big AT-AT (especially you Mr. Topless Robot? hehe)? Well, there’s more rumors spreading across the net on what this thing might look like and if true, we could be looking at one of the coolest toys ever:

From Rebelscum:

According to this eyewitness account, it looks like a Turbo Tank on legs, with an interior similar to the inside of the Turbo Tank, but with 2 levels, opening doors, a gun rack, and an underside hatch for Luke to slice into. There are 2 strings that come out of a side panel like on a rescue helicopter. The neck seal is rubber, and the head holds 6 figures inside, including General Veers. Plus, the rear opens for a Blizzard Force speeder bike.

Paul’s Peg > A Look at Hasbro’s New AT-ST (Not a Review)

Out of my Christmas haul my biggest get (at least toy wise) was the new(ish) AT-ST put out by Hasbro. If you don’t remember this bad boy, I geeked out for it a few months ago and never thought I’d actually see it, much yet own it. If you’re on the fence or want to know if you should go out of your way to get one I thought I’d throw together my non-review for you all.

Paul’s Peg > A Jedirrific Star Wars Find

toyhuntlogo0001

I’ll let you in on a secret. I’ve almost given up entirely on buying single carded figures in the 3 3/4ths scale. This is due to the fact that I’m poor and can’t fathom paying over seven dollars for one tiny figures. That’s why I’ve been digging these “Blockbuster Value” two packs that I’ve found at Target. How can you go wrong with getting two figures for the price of one? And yet, many of the two packs have been auto passes due to the crappy B side figures. Well, I found this guy the other day and thought that he was a pretty good A side, so good that the B side must be pretty damned bad. I picked him up and turned him around and was amazed to find…

Mysterious Stranger writes in:

This particular swap caused me to do a doubletake. At the Burbank Toys R Us I found two of the Hasbro Marvel Legends Dum Dum Dugan/White Hand Ninja 2-packs mixed in with the same 3 Skrull/Kree packs that have been there since Thanksgiving. One was at the back of the shelf and one at the front. The one at the front had the Dum Dum head swapped with the generic S.H.I.E.L.D. trooper head. I didn’t notice the swap at first until I pulled out the pack from the back of the shelf. I looked to make sure the trooper head wasn’t just swapped with the Dum Dum head in the package as a packaging error but the trooper head with helmet was in its spot in the tray. The side of the box where the front flap is taped was a bit sticky where the tape had been removed and replaced and the crotch of the figure was thrust forward due to the figure not being put back into the tray completely.

There were no other signs of tampering that I could see. I did go ahead and buy both sets since I wanted them for S.H.I.E.L.D. troopers (and got them at a discounted price due to them being stocked on the wrong shelf tag, a TRU mistake not the swappers). This person most likely has an extra Nick Fury figure and just wanted the Dum Dum head so they saw this pack, swapped it out and returned it with the trooper head. Probably one of the more clever swaps I’ve seen though I still think the guy that did it is a tool.

Indeed he is, Mysterious Stranger. In fact, he’s a Dremel, if I’m not mistaken.

CURSE: As his crime isn’t quite as malicious or cruel as some of the examples we’ve seen so far, may his flesh be only partially consumed by beetles.

Paul’s Peg > New Joe Card Art?

How’s this for total speculation? Here’s some possible new G.I. Joe card art that surfaced on 4chan.

Now the only reason I’m posting this here is that I would totally dig this art. I’m guessing that it’s probably a fake, but who knows? I really would love to see the return of a more classic card out, since I’ve never liked the Rise of Cobra stuff. I don’t expect a return to the look of the 25th anniversary style, but dang it all, I miss it. This is a nice middle ground that might catch my eye a bit more as I’m looking for toys I can’t afford. What do kids think?

Joes for Tots > More Cool Peeps

Joes for Tots entries are still coming in, but if you haven’t donated yet there is still plenty of time to help out. While many places are closed for actual toy donations, you can still donate even a small amount online. Aside from helping someone out and possibly getting a nice bonus, remember Poe offered up a sweet unmasked Dark Knight figure as well. Remember, you have until the 31st of December to submit your entry!

Anyway, I thought I’d share a few more of the photo entries I’ve received. This time the theme is pulling some of the entries that qualify as, “The Ladies of Joes For Tots.”
