Any questions for Mattel?

This is for the mid-April round. Questions due by 11:59pm Wednesday, March 30.

Ask Mattel > Answers for Mid-March

1.) The Batman : Legacy figures look great. Regarding Two-Face: will he come with an alternate, non-coin-holding right hand (hopefully one that can hold a gun)?

No.

2.) The Movie Masters figures tended to be in a slightly smaller, more “realistic-to-humans” scale than DCUC. Will the Arkham Asylum figures be closer to Movie Masters or DCUC, in terms of scale and style? (more…)

Any questions for Mattel? (Read post before commenting)

OK, read carefully this time, folks.

Mattel traditionally gives humorous answers for their April 1 Ask Mattel, followed by the real answers the next day.

This time, I say we forego the real questions (and real answers) and ask some April 1-style questions of our own. So go wild. Now, I’ll tell you right now, I will not submit any questions like, “Where exactly does forcing fans to overpay for shoddy QC and unwanted paint schemes fit into your overall scheme for world domination?” or similarly bitchy snark. Not interested.

What I want to see is stuff like this:

  • “The Skystriker SDCC set looks great. Will you also be making one with a Wind Raider color scheme?”
  • “Does He-Man have to use any special ointment to prevent a rash from that furry underwear?”
  • “I bought that He-Man with the furry cape. Great figure, but the bio says he lost to John Cena in Wrestlemania 22. But John Cena isn’t even an Evil Warrior! Who’s writing these bios?”

Questions are due by 11:59pm Sunday, March 13.

Ask Mattel > Answers for March 1

1.) Elvis8Batman asks: DCUC. Do you plan on completing both the young sidekick versions of the Teen Titans team and the older Perez era version of the team as at the moment they are half and half?

Ideally, in time, we’ll get to both.

2.) RM asks: As a huge Shawn Michaels fan, and a fan of your fantanstic Elite-style WWE figures, I’ve been very much looking forward to adding a Mattel Shwn Michaels to my collection. One thing however has prevented me from doing so; the complete lack of chest hair on every Shawn Michaels figure to date. Shawn’s chest hair (and stubble) are trademark aspects of his “look”, and his figures just don’t look right without. Is there any chance that future Shawn Michaels figures going forward may have paint applications to correct this, to give fans the accruate figures that they desire? (more…)

Ask Mattel > Mid-January Answers (UPDATE: Roundup added)

1.) AmericanHyena asks: If you gave Romat-Ru unique alien hands, why did Tomar-Re, who is the same species, get human hands?

Because that is how he looked in the reference material provided. There have been many artists over the years who have interpreted DC characters. DCUC is the Mattel/Four Horsemen interpretation.

2.) Mosh asks: What happened to the double articulation on Kyle Rayner? The proto showed double joints on a basic body which could have been the new mold for future figures, did you already ditch that idea? (more…)

1.) Now that double jointed elbows and knees are starting to appear in DCUC, there’s one character who greatly deserves them: Batman. Is there any chance we could see a new version of Batman with these joints?

Right now we don’t have plans to go back to older figures and upgrade them with new articulation, but it is always possible down the road!

2.) barbecue17 asks: Is is possible that we could see a Teela figure in pink armor that would benefit charity breast cancer research? (more…)

Any questions for Mattel?

The time has come, the Walrus said, to ask Matty your questions. Questions due by 11:59pm Monday, December 13.

Ask Mattel > Answers for December 1

1.) Mark asks: Can you please stop posing the WWE Legends figures in the packages as it is bending their legs to the side. Just pose them normally, they do not have to be in a dynamic pose to sell. Excellent figures BTW!

We pack out our Legends figures in dynamic poses that match trademark actions of those Superstars. However, we have become aware that some poses tend to negatively affect the figure inside and we will no longer be posing figures in ways that may happen do this.

2.) William Fontaine De la Tour Dauterive asks: Has the WWE team considered using the Terry Funk Elite upper body on more superstars? I feel that torso is more appropriate for folks like Edge, Chris Jericho, Drew McIntyre, Alberto Del Rio, Cowboy Bob Orton, prime Shawn Michaels, etc since it’s a little beefier than what’s currently being used.
