Meet the new Batman, same as the old Batman

DC has released their solicits for June, including a look at the new Batman and his “redesigned” outfit (from the cover of Batman #687). From what I can tell, the new touches are the bat-buckle and what look like scalloped work gloves instead of gauntlets, which seems like a step back to me. Of course, I still want a DCUC version of him as soon as possible, please. (more…)

NECA TMNT series 2: just wind in sails?

The TMNT & Other Strangeness Blog has an interview with Ninja Turtles writer Steve Murphy (who as of late has become depressingly doom-and-gloom about the world due to his belief that the environment is already screwed).

Anyway, here’s the relevant passage for those hoping for the second series of NECA TMNT figures.

Speaking of comic figures, do you have any clue what happened with NECA?

I can only hazard to guess that NECA lost interest in the TMNT, regardless of the happy talk they make to fan journalists and fan news sites.

You say NECA seems to have lost interest, does that mean that the recent news of series 2 finally coming out will not be coming true after all or is it all just a wait and see sort of deal again?

My opinion is that it’s just like that line from Devo’s “Jocko Homo” song: “I say it’s all / Just wind in sails.” In other words, nonsense, public relations, nothing substantial.

NECA wants us to open a certain distribution channel for them but we’re prevented from doing so.

Without that new avenue of sales, I doubt very much that NECA will release anything further.

My guess? NECA wants to sell these in Toys ‘R Us, but they can’t due to Playmates’ deal with Mirage.

New FANtastic Exclusive round is up

ministry

Ugh…I have to admit, I find this a little depressing. The four figures now vying for FANtastic Exclusive 2009 are: Wolfbat, Raven, Vampire Lady, and the Ministry of Hunters, which I think pretty much solidifies my belief that the majority of FE voters are MOTU2K fans who think MOTU2K Skeletor is one of the greatest action figures ever made.

Seriously, this is probably the outcome I least wanted. Now I can only pray the Ministry of Hunters wins, since they’re the only one of the four I really like. Please, I urge you to go vote for the Ministry. As for the other bracket–I don’t care who you vote for, really, but if you forced me at gunpoint to choose, I guess Raven.

Guns guns guns!

ds_gun

“C’mon, Sal! Tigers are playing tonight! I never miss a game.”

One of the many ways I enjoy my action figures/waste time is, when an action figure comes with some sort of gun, I try to identify what type of gun it is (or what type inspired its design, in some cases). With military action figures, it’s usually pretty obvious what the guns are, as those guys are obsessed with accuracy and the name of the gun is usually spelled out on the packaging.

But for the DC Universe Classics line, sculptors the Four Horsemen have a bit more freedom in their designs. (more…)

Hordak pops up on eBay

hordak

From Hong Kong, lawless land of test shots and prototypes, comes this packaged MOTUC Hordak. It’s hard to tell much about the figure from the photos, but we do get his new bio.

I’m fine with the story, but…Hec-Tor Kur? Is that some reference to a toy designer or young MOTU fan?

Whither JLU?

It’s probably going to be a light week for PGPoA, for various reasons. But I hate to leave you guys without something to think about, so here’s a question. (more…)
