Vote for the Poester Award 2009!

I’m going to be releasing my second annual award picks early next month. To make everything fair, I’ve decided to make all my selections only from the figures I’ve reviewed this year.

But why should I have all the fun? I’m also going to offer you guys a chance to pick your own favorite figure of the year: the Poester Award. Voting goes from now to midnight on December 31. Each name is a direct link to my review (let me know if I messed any of ’em up).

Poe I dont know if you noticed but Adam Strange is in there twice.

  2. Poe

    @George: Thanks–fixed.

  3. Thomas B

tough choice but i went for he-man

  4. PrfktTear

So many figures… only one vote! Its hard to pick from such great ones… MOTUC He-Man, MP Grimlock, DCUC Joker… tough choice!!!

  5. The Flash III

I'm going with Hawkman. The Four Horseman made a guy with no shirt who wears red, green, and yellow look badass. And with his articulated wings spread, he is a fantastic figure. Barely edges out Joker.

    @Poe

The tenth name down should be Captain Marvel instead of just Captain, I think.

  6. Dead Man Walking

Only two figures there really jump to the front of the line there for me: T-800 and MP Grimlock. I went with the T-800 because it's so great to finally get a dead on likeness of Arnie as he appeared in T2. MP Grimlock is awesome, but his small stature (relative to MP Prime and Megs), and his high price knock him down a peg for me.

  7. Nik

    Grimlock all the way.

  8. Had to go with Grimlock, I can't get over how amazing the Masterpiece figures are. I love my Prime.

  9. Griffin

No Skeletor? He'd be in the running for me for sure.

  10. Poe

Apologies for the oversights, I did this sort of in a daze the other night. I fixed Captain Marvel and added Skeletor (you might need to refresh a few times to see the changes, and it seems to take a few minutes). Let me know if I missed anything else.

If you want to switch your vote to Skeletor, just post a comment here telling me who you originally voted for and who you want to switch it to.

  11. finkrod

    Skeletor baby.

I'm curious to see if anyone press gangs their friends into voting this time around. Guess I'll have my answer if the G-Force toy wins =P

  12. PrfktTear

My guess is it will be a tie with Darwin, city display, and Alexander Luthor.

  13. nerdbot

I agree with The Flash III; if were talking action figures, Hawkman gets my vote (also just edging out Joker). He might be at a disadvantage because he came out so long ago, but damn folks- he is just about perfect.

There are several other great items in that list. T-800, for instance, is also a really cool sculpt; but the lack of articulation lowers his appeal for me.

  14. Griffin

I probably won't vote until after Christmas, so I can have hands on experience with a few more of the contenders. Front runners include Joker, Hawkman, Skeletor, Mer-man, and Mp Grimlock. I'm hoping to finally get that Grimlock.

  15. Ryan

I'll also have to wait until after Christmas – I'm guessing either Grimlock or the Big Daddy, but I wont be able to play with the latter until Chissy!

  16. Tom-Tom

    Joker

  17. Motorthing

    Grimlock baby.

Hon mentions to MOTUC He-Dude and MAA.

Best figure you didn't review that I own: Star Wars TFU Shaak Ti – superb sculpt of a kick-ass, barely clad Jedi. Well worth buying a "likely stolen straight out of the factory" Far-East preview sample to get.

  18. Really hard choice, personally I would not pick any of them as my toy of the year (not meaning anything just you did't review it) but out all I'd have to say Skeletor and honourable mentions to He-Man and Masterpiece Grimlock.

  19. Poe

Wow–quite a battle going on behind the scenes here! There's only a 2-vote difference between the #1 and #2 figures, and only four votes between #1 and #4.

  20. PrfktTear

2009 was a huge year in that many fans got pretty definitive versions of several beloved characters, including He-Man & Skeletor (and all of MOTUC for that matter in my eyes), MP Grimlock, and DCUC Joker. Of course I don't know that those are the four front runners, but I'm presuming they're all up there.

I don't think I could pick a favorite from MOTUC, but Man-At-Arms, Tri-Klops, and Webstor are amongst some of my favorites!

From the DCUC world, Hawkman/Hawkgirl are both pretty awesome on their own! Gentleman Ghost looks cool… still haven't seen him! =(

  21. dayraven

i voted he-ro, for the dream of 20+ years ago finally getting fulfilled… but i have to admit, i would have, if given the choice, favored the NECA chun li. those thunder thighs were PERFECT!

  22. @dayraven: The NECA Street Fighter stuff was quality, can't wait until they do Vega and Zangief.

Also Hasbro made some amazing G.I. Joes this year in the 25th Anniversary line, The Hall Of Fame Series and the Movie/ Resolute line.

  23. Stiffrightshoulderma

I may be in a minority but my vote, lacking in objectivity as it may be, is for the DCUC Gentleman Ghost. Hawkman may have superior articulation, superior sculpting and greater name recognition but Gentleman Ghost (GG to his friends) has a certain something that sets him apart. That and he comes with a cool miniature Atom. Maybe Tyr can come with a miniature Shrinking Violet?

  24. Grimmy all the way.

    ~Matt Booker

  25. Will

I'm a sucker for Ghostbusters, I'd definitely go for Egon Spengler!

  26. yujey8

    He's a merman

    He doesn't need your voice

    He's a merman

    Go to bed

    Dream instead

    And you will find him

    He's a merman

    eternally

Doesn't need something you're not willing to give

    He's a merman

Doesn't need your voice to cross his land of ice

  27. If you reviewed the SW concept IG-88 i would have voted for that. for me it´s Jet Jaguar.

  28. Nicholai

My favorite figure of the year has been Giganta. Just about the best C&C I've seen. Only rivaled, to me, by the old Sentinel and Galactus ones. Best I think DCUC has done. Having her towering over a mostly complete Legion of Doom is fantastic.

  29. Eric

    Hordak

  30. bigraj

Going with DCUC's Giganta C&C, but MOTUC was the overall top toy line.

  31. clark

I went ahead with Kalibak (my favorite C&C figure I own) but it was really a toss up between him, Skeletor, and Joker.
